For over 70 years now, the shop has been providing the best Irish Gifts you can find in Ireland. We’re now excited to launch on-line enabling those who can’t make it to Ireland this year, feel like they did!
Henry Keogh and his wife Mary have operated this local institution for over 30 years, and more recently their three children; Oisin, Siofra and Bonnie. Henry’s father before him first opened in 1945 selling a wide range of Irish gifts, crafts and many household items for tourists and locals alike.
About the Keogh Family
Henry grew up in Oughterard, was very active in his local GAA (Gaelic Athletics Association) and was the Connemara Boxing Champion in ’74 – ’75. He grew up working alongside his father in JP Keogh & Sons and knew the business well at a young age.
Henry and Mary first met when Mary moved out to Oughterard from Galway City to open her own hairdressing salon. Mary ran a successful salon for many years and then joined Henry in the shop. She enjoys writing poetry and has promised to share some here!
Oisin is currently studying History and Legal Studies in University, Siofra is studying Youth and Family Studies in University and Bonnie is in primary school in Oughterard. You’ll be getting to know Henry and the family through our video posts and we hope to hear back from you about what sorts of local news you’d like him to feature.
